Description
Geranium cinereum ‘Laurence Flatman’
Geranium cinereum ‘Laurence Flatman’, commonly known as cranesbill, is a low-growing, mat-forming herbaceous perennial reaching around 10-15cm in height, with a spread of 15-20cm. It forms neat mounds of attractive grey-green, deeply lobed foliage, which often takes on crimson tones as the season progresses into autumn.
From late spring through to early autumn, the plant bears a profusion of pale purplish-pink flowers, each marked with a darker central zone and distinctive dark veining radiating out across the petals. The blooms are produced in flushes, with the heaviest display in early summer and sporadic flowering continuing thereafter.
This compact geranium is ideal for rockeries, raised beds, gravel gardens, edging or containers. Cultivation is simple: plant in full sun or light part-shade in moist but well-drained soil.
