A native of South West Africa, the String of Pearls plant looks just as it sounds, with round, succulent leaves carried down long, slender stems - definitely a gem. Best grown so that it can hang down this sun lover is rather beautiful. Water sparingly, keep lightly moist in summer and pretty dry in the winter. Feed regularly during the growing season and not in the winter. Flowers are often produced, being interesting rather than spectacular, white, almost tufty in habit. Take cuttings, they root easily and put several in a pot.
