Every now and then we come across a plant that stands out above many of the others. This is such a plant. The pitchers are medium sized with the most incredible large flared hood. Gradually darkening with age it is not massively vigorous but neither is it slow. It was stunning when young and as it has aged it just gets better. Height 30-45cm (12-18"). Like all Sarracenias they need to stand in 2.5cm (1") of soft (rain) water in acidic nutrient-less soil in full sun for good growth. They are efficient fly and wasp catchers both indoors and out. Good as container plants. Keep well hydrated spring to autumn but keep just damp in winter. Needs a cold winter dormancy for long term plant health. Good flycatchers for a sunny window sill. Plants may be sent bare rooted.
