A stunningly beautiful alata. Deepest purple/black pitchers are an absolute joy, remaining evergreen throughout the winter months. As an added attraction the new pitchers are pale yellow and the contrast is lovely. As with all alatas their main pitcher production time is later in the year just as the flavas are waning. Height 60cm (2') Flowers are an added attraction borne during April/May. Like all Sarracenias they need to stand in 2.5cm (1") of soft (rain) water in acidic nutrient-less soil in full sun for good growth. They are efficient fly and wasp catchers both indoors and out. Good as container plants. Keep well hydrated spring to autumn but keep just damp in winter. Needs a cold winter dormancy for long term plant health. Good flycatchers for a sunny window sill. Plants may be sent bare rooted.
