A sub shrub, or herbaceous perennial that bear long sprays of pale lilac flowers each of which is surrounded by deep blue calyx. The overall effect is like blue wands radiating from a leafy mound. Prefers a sunny sheltered site in a well drained poorish soil. Needs frost protection. Height 60-90cm (2-3'). A hybrid between S. leucantha and S. chiapensis
