A rather select medium sized shrub with a lovely open habit with stout polished reddish stems bearing large conspicuous buds. Deep glossy elliptical leaves are an added attraction. In early spring slender pendulous catkins appear as the leaves are emerging, up to 15cm long. An easily grown accommodating shrub.
