Another really exciting new variety. The flowers are a stunning dark reddish purple and are a beautriful 'Magnolia' shape, a trait that M. liliiflora doesnt have. A magnificent shrub 2-3m. high. Flowers on the bare branches in March or April, sometimes May. Prefers acidic soil. plant in a site protected from the late spring frosts and in plenty of peat. A really magnificent plant when well grown that can be either a large shrub or small tree. Absolutely gorgeous!
