When I first saw this plant it was at a nursery that specialises in Michaelmas Daisies. I knew then that I had to have it!!! Its flowers were held majestically over large clumps of evergreen leaves and they really were a sight to behold. Unusually the flowers are short and fat, almost egg shaped. They begin as a vivid, bright orange and, as pokers do, gradually change to yellow giving the characteristic look. Flowering much later than the norm these are a welcome addition to any garden, extending colour well into the autumn, often as late as November. Height and spread 90-120cm, (3-4') Absolutely stunning.
