Very easily grown alpines, closely related to the Sempervivums or 'Houseleeks'. They differ only slightly, having very loosely attached 'rollers' or offsets and slightly different flowers. They will grow almost without soil and water and thrive in cracks and rock crevices. Good for alpine troughs. Easily propagated, just detach the offsets.. Need a sunny well drained poor site. Both these and the houseleeks can be used very imaginatively in all sorts of small containers and this makes them great for encouraging kids.
