Very easily grown alpines, closely related to the Sempervivums or 'Houseleeks'. They have different flowers and a slightly different habit. This one has lovely greyish green rosettes with paler edges. They will grow almost without soil and water and thrive in cracks and rock crevices. Good for alpine troughs. Need a sunny well drained poor site. Both these and the Houseleeks can be used very imaginatively in all sorts of small containers and this makes them great for encouraging kids.
