A hardy, perennial species, native to the forests of the Himalayas. Bushy plants produces the most unusual, upturned, bright yellow, orchid-like flowers with long curling spurs and red speckled throats. Dark green, red tinged leaves add to the attraction, Whilst the flowers are small they are borne in such large numbers from May to October. Prefers a moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool position. . Hardy to -15C (possibly more) in the ground with a winter mulch.
