A hardy, perennial species still rare in cultivation that is native to SW China, Sikkim, India and Thailand. Produces glossy, serrated leaves and large, yellow-orange, orchid-like flowers with curling spurs in autumn. Height 20 cm. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool, sheltered position. Hardy to -5 C (possibly a little more) in the ground.
