Thymes are grown the world over as it is such a very versatile plant with attractive foliage, long lasting flowers and drought tolerance. On top of that it is one of the most useful herbs for the kitchen. The earliest flowering thyme, suitable for both the rock garden and the herb garden - also very good container plants. Prefers a well-drained light poor soil, in full sun. Excellent for flavouring stuffings and stews, and is ideal added to a bouquet garni. Pies and chutneys are also given an extra lift when this aromatic herb is added.
