Helenium 'Mardi Gras'
A jubilant late-summer perennial that brings carnival colours to the garden with its vibrant, party-like blooms. Helenium 'Mardi Gras' reaches an impressive height of 90-100 cm, creating a bold vertical presence in borders. The flowers are a dazzling mix of orange and yellow, with each petal displaying variable bands of both colours and distinctive ruffled edges, whilst prominent dark centres add further drama to the display.
Flowering commences in mid-summer and continues well into autumn, providing welcome colour when many other plants are beginning to fade. The upright stems are adorned with lance-shaped, dark green foliage that remains attractive throughout the growing season, providing a perfect foil for the flamboyant blooms.
Best suited to full sun and moisture-retentive soil, 'Mardi Gras' makes an excellent addition to herbaceous borders, prairie-style plantings, and cottage gardens. Its long-lasting flowers are particularly attractive to pollinators and make excellent cut flowers for late-summer arrangements.
