Comeback Kite - prelim. sketches380 x 290mmwatercolour and pencilThis is a study page for a larger piece, looking at the outstanding success of the return of the Red Kite from the brink of extinction.As a child, despite spending all of my free time outside, I never saw kites near Tycroes. They were mythical birds that had disappeared, leaving just stories of the last few left, hidden away somewhere farther north. Now I can watch them from my workroom window every day, and after the markets in Llanybydder they hang around on the rooftops, waiting to clear up the left over lunchtime chips and burgers.....what a fabulous return!
