A totally bomb-proof fern. The native 'Male Fern', tis is at home in almost all sires and situations. In the wild it frequents anything from damp shady areas to sunny dry banks making it a very useful plant fr most gardens. Height 60-90cm (2-3') Semi evergreen.

One of the best of the ferns with lovely bronze or reddish fronds in the Autumn, hence the common names 'Autumn Fern' and 'Japanese Red Shield Fern'. Evergreen plants give rise to new fronds that are a brilliant copper red, gradually ageing through yellow and then green. Prefers a semi shaded site, including dry shade, where it will look spectacular. A personal favourite. Height and spread 75cm (2.5')
