Dicliptera suberecta

Dicliptera suberecta, commonly known as Uruguayan Firecracker Plant, is a striking and unusual perennial native to South America. This plant forms a bushy, mounded habit, typically reaching heights of 60-90 cm. Its most distinctive feature is its soft, velvety, grey-green foliage, which provides an attractive texture and appearance even when the plant is not in bloom.

From midsummer through to autumn, Dicliptera suberecta produces an abundance of tubular, bright orange-red flowers. These vibrant blooms emerge from unusual, bract-like structures, giving the plant its 'firecracker' moniker. The flowers are particularly attractive to insects and butterflies, making it an excellent choice for wildlife gardens.

Thriving in full sun to partial shade, this plant is remarkably heat and drought-tolerant. Makes a lovely conservatory plant.
