A huge dahlia from Mexico that in its native area can grow up to 8m tall. Here it will achieve a height of 3m or so and its impressive leaves are divided and velvety. It rarely flowers in the UK unless we have a long warm autumn, but occasionally the flowers are borne and are pink in colour. The tubers can be left in the ground in milder areas if given a good mulch or stored in a frost free place. A great architectural plant for the exotic border.
