An interesting climber or loose shrub for a sunny sheltered site. Attractively leaves bear bright yellow pea -like flowers from April onwards. Can also be used as a conservatory plant where it will flower for months. A good free flowering plant. It was introduced to Britain in 1569 during the reign of Elizabeth 1st so has stood the test of time. Can be rather short lived, often flowering itself to death so needs cuttings taking every few years as it becomes woody and lacking in vigour.
