Easy to grow evergreen rosettes with tightly packed leaves, the older ones turning reddish. Pink flower spikes are borne in summer. Prefers poor soil with good drainage. Ideal in walls, pots and rockeries. Can be grown in areas almost without soil, hence the common name 'House leaks'
