One of the best acers for retaining it's shape. It is a well-branched shrub which over time grows to be treelike in shape. Between 2 & 3m, leaves 6-8cm., wine red in colour. Keeps it's colour well all summer. Prefers an acidic soil and a semi-shaded sight. Excelent for a japanese garden. Superb autumn colour.
