Stunning plants, native to China, having been grown there for 2000 years. They are surprisingly hardy and these flamboyant shrubs really do give a splash of colour with their huge, mainly double, flowers. Growing to a height of about 1.5 metyres (5') their leaves alone are quite architectural providing interest when the flowers have faded. Prefers a sunny or partially shaded site in a well drained soil. Slow growing initially they will live for 50 years or more if happy. This one has huge pink, golden centred flowers up to 20cm (8") across.
