Plants for damp sites

Damp and moisture laden soils can create their very own challenges, it can be very wet in winter and then dry up altogether in summer.  The best way to deal with this is by replicating what happens naturally.  Therefore the best plants for damp and boggy areas are bog plants; those plants that will happily thrive in waterlogged soil near the edge of a pond, stream or marsh.  Also marginals that are quite happy to grow around the edge or in the shallows of a water feature are a good choice.
