A lovely deciduous shrub which from late winter to spring bears numerous clusters of dark red flowers with yellow anthers on the bare branches, these are followed by green fruits ripening to yellow that are edible, making superb jelly. A compact shrub that can be used as both a free standing shrub or a stunning wall shrub. Height 1m (3ft) or 2-3m as a wall cover. Easily grown in sun or shade in most soil conditions.
