Made to order Christmas wreaths. Mainly made with a conifer base (which will last for months) we add Holly and/or Ivy to give that real Christmas feel, and they smell superb too. We do them with several types of decoration. Optional orange peel and cinnamon sticks just add to the attraction. As they are made at the nursery we can usually accommodate any special requirements that you need. This one has snowy decorations and can have ribbons in either red, purple or green.
All images are for illustration purposes and with each wreath being unique, there may be slight variations.
Available the last week of November, or earlier by request.
A brief history of the origins of the Christmas wreath – generally Christmas traditions are very deep-rooted and undocumented, and they change over time and mutate from area to area. Although wreaths were used in ancient Rome to reward military and sporting success, it is believed that the first Christmas wreaths were used by Lutherans in Germany during the 16th century, although, it wasn’t properly documented until 1833 when a Lutheran clergyman lit a candle in a wreath every Sunday during advent and told the nativity story. This spread to other churches and homes. Then during the 19th century they were made to hang on doors as ‘Welcome Rings’ and were adorned with holly, ivy, pinecones and ribbons.
