Shipping to the EU
An update on shipping to the EU. As I am sure you are aware, Great Britain left the EU at the beginning of January 2021. As a result, the way that we trade with countries outside of the United Kingdom have also changed. This will result in major changes and unfortunately, price rises. We do not want to lose any of our European customers so we are working hard to find a way to keep the extra costs to a minimum. In order for us to export plants, we need to apply for a Phytosanitary Certificate, which can only be issued after lots of paperwork and an inspection. It also means that our plants will have to be sent bare rooted.
Each Phytosanitary Certificate will cost £25, however the inspection cost in order to issue the certificates will cost us over £250 an hour. Therefore, the best way to keep these costs as low as possible is to delay orders for export until we have several orders that can be inspected at the same time. That way we can then split the inspection cost between several customers.
Due to the complications of working out these costs, we are unable to add these at checkout. We would therefore ask that you email us your order and we can work out all the costs for you. If you do not want to wait for us to pool several orders you are of course welcome to bear the whole cost yourself although this is likely to be in excess of £150. Ideally, we would like to pool up to 10 orders to keep the prices as low as possible.
Shipments to Northern Ireland will also need to have a Phytosanitary Certificate but the costs will be slightly different. Please email us with your order.
